Catholic Medical Mission Board works collaboratively to provide quality healthcare programs and services, without discrimination, to people in need around the world. We feel that collaboration is crucial to being able to ensure that our vision becomes a reality: A world in which every human life is valued and quality healthcare is available to all.
The earthquake in Haiti has affected everyone living in Haiti, and has restricted access to every basic need including shelter, food, water, clothing, healthcare and education. "Men anpil, chay pa lou" - With many hands, the load is light
Since our beginning in 1912 in response to healthcare needs in Haiti, CMMB has maintained a special bond with this Caribbean nation. CMMB has an excellent reputation among the people, has integrated our Healing Help medical shipment and volunteer programs, and been aided by strong local partnerships. This has all proven to be invaluable during the recent emergency brought about by the earthquake. Because of its long tradition of service in Haiti, CMMB has:
Raised more than $20 million in donated medicines and medical supplies; 89.4% of aid has been delivered to Haiti
Sent 56 shipments of medicines and medical supplies to 21 clinics, hospitals and organizations serving those affected by the earthquake
Distributed over 20,000 hygiene kits and 500,000 meals to serve those affected by our quake
Working with our partners, deployed more than 250 medical volunteers
Trained over 70 community health agents, 3 nurses, and 4 social workers
Purchased and placed 110 tents
