Description: Clinica Misional works to provide quality sustainable health and dental care to those people who live in the “Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe” in Zamora-Chinchipe Province and the other underserved citizens of southern Ecuador. It will be in need of a Medical Doctor starting June/Fall 2011. It has Dentistry, Dental-Hygienist, Dental Lab, Nurses, Medical Brigades inside and outside the Clinic. Its international team of volunteers came from 14 countries providing clinical services on General Medicine, Odontology, Ophthalmology, ENT, General Surgery, Anaesthesia, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Dematology and Plastic Surgery. Description: The FCJM Sisters Clinic of Onanrunggu Parish is located in Kabupaten, Samorsir Island, North Sumatra. The clinic mainly provides healthcare to the surrounding rural poor population. It has 6-bed capacity and an average of 60 outpatients per day. Common illnesses among patients include ulcers, hepatitis and tuberculosis. The region suffers from high rates of infant mortality and childhood morbidity. It is currently staffed by one nurse-Sister from Monday to Saturday who is on-call 24/7.

Description: The Mother of Mercy Hospital is a Catholic hospital in Gidel, Sudan located in the remote Nuba Mountains, a wilderness reachable by UN planes 20 km (1-hr) away from Kauda Airport. It is the only surgical hospital in central Sudan serving a population battered by 50 years of civil war. It has 170-bed facility (90% bed occupancy), an Out-Patient Department (OPD) averaging 175 patients per day, 40 (20 major & 20 minor) operations per week, and 3 birth deliveries per week staffed by a doctor, 4 nurses, 3 paramedicals and a midwife. It has an operating room, obstetrical delivery room, autoclave post-operative recovery room, ultrasound, pharmacy, maternity ward, and a dental department. Length of Commitment: Six month minimum (with possible extension to one year); limited short-term placements of less than 6 months may also be available (i.e. 3 to 4 weeks for Pharmacist/Pharmacy Assistant)
Description: The Missionaries of the Poor in Cap-Haitien, Haiti has a 3-acre monastery where 16 Brothers with the support of volunteers provide free service to the poor. There are about 200 homeless residents, a majority of whom are elderly with various heart conditions. In addition, there are about 60 orphaned/abandoned children, many of whom are physically disabled. The Mission has a dispensary serving several patients from the neighborhood and across the city. They are planning to conduct outreach medical assistance to the slum neighborhood. The Mission also hopes to begin offering its services to the growing population of HIV/AIDS patients. This site is in need of 5 volunteers (Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, 2 Physical Therapists, and Pharmacist/Pharmacy Assistant) committed to a placement of at least 6 months, with the possibility of extending to 1 year. Medical Volunteer Opening: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer
Length of Commitment: 1-year minimum
Description: As part of a project team based in Yambio County of South Sudan, the M&E Volunteer will work closely with the Program Director, and the M&E Director at CMMB-HQ, to monitor the pace of implementation and to evaluate project progress of a five-year CDC-funded program managed by Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB). The program aims to reduce HIV transmission and provide care and support services to People Living with HIV and AIDS.
