Pharmaceutical & Life Science Companies
Through our Healing Help Program, CMMB has a proven track record of working effectively with socially responsible pharmaceutical and life science companies to distribute vitally needed medicines to those who need the most help.
We began building our relationships with pharmaceutical partners more than four decades ago when Bishop Fulton Sheen first approached industry leaders for help. This collaboration has continued and flourished, thanks to the vision and generosity of generations of corporate leaders, and to the professional approach CMMB takes to the distribution of medicines and medical supplies. We carefully screen all requests for donations and track our medical shipments to ensure that supplies reach the intended recipients and are donated free of charge and without discrimination.
If you would like to partner with us to provide medicines and supplies to people in need, please contact us at medicaldonations@cmmb.org or call 1-800-678-5659.
Pharmaceutical Partner Profiles:
Eli Lilly and CMMB: Improving quality of life in Kenya
Eli Lilly and Company and CMMB, both founding members of the Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD)—an alliance designed to uphold high standards in the delivery of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies—have been working as collaborators in improving global healthcare for the last half-century.
As a component of their mission, Eli Lilly and Company and CMMB joined forces in Eldoret, Kenya, providing $21.9 million worth of life-saving products to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital over the past ten years alone. CMMB has facilitated donations of insulin for Eli Lilly to Moi in support of their medical exchange partnership with Indiana University (IU) since 1999. Rob Smith, Director of Corporate Philanthropy and President of the Lilly Foundation, recognizes this special partnership: “It is an excellent program run by quality people who are delivering great results with patients. It is not just a program about medicine, but one that is focused on holistically meeting the needs of patients.”
Merck & Co., Inc.
Merck and CMMB have worked productively together for many years to alleviate sickness and suffering worldwide. Merck’s generosity was apparent when hurricane Ketsana and Typhoon Parma devastated the Asia-Pacific in September 2009: Merck responded to CMMB’s emergency request with $153,227 in medication to treat asthma and high blood pressure. Furthermore, in 2008, 25,000 doses of Recombivax HB was sent Armenia. The donation, worth $1.8 million, was used to prevent infection by the hepatitis B virus. Additionally in 2008, 20,000 tablets of EMEND, valued at $1 million, was distributed to cancer centers in Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru and the Dominican Republic. EMEND, when used along with other drugs, helps prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.
